James Informational Media, Inc. started in 1999,   Publishers of trade magazines Better Roads Magazine and Aggregates Manager.  Managing partners include Mike Porcaro, Jim Morrissey,  Jim Moriarty and Kirk Landers.

Mike Porcaro - A co-founder of James Informational Media Inc., Mike has worked in business-to-business publishing for more than 20 years serving as Vice President and Publisher of Construction Equipment, Construction Products and Building Design & Construction, as Group Publisher of The Aberdeen Group magazines, now Hanley-Wood, (Concrete Construction, The Concrete Producer, Masonry Construction, and VP Publishing for Newport Communications (Heavy Duty Trucking, RoadStar).

Prior to a career in publishing, Mike was Worldwide Advertising Manager for the Construction Equipment Group of International Harvester.

Mike serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and The Road Information Program (TRIP). He is former Chairman of PICA (Publications in Construction Association, a bureau of AEM), and a member of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Conexpo-CON/AGG 2005 Promotion Committee and Associate Members Council.

Mike holds a degree in journalism with a concentration in advertising from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a Master of Science in Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University.

Jim Morrissey has extensive publishing experience, including 10 years with Standard Rate and Data Service (SRDS),  as Midwest Advertising Director.   

A co-founder of James Informational Media Inc., Jim began his career in publishing with the Reuben H. Donnelly Corporation, and most recently served as Publisher of GAS Utility Manager magazine.

Jim has a degree in Communications from Ohio University in Athens, OH.

Kirk Landers Kirk joined JIMI in 2001 as principal and Editorial Director after a 15-year stint as editor-in-chief of Construction Equipment magazine.

Within a few months, Landers engineered a redesign of Better Roads, a 75-year old magazine serving governmental, contractor and consulting engineering highway professionals. Kirk reshaped the magazine by increasing emphasis on road construction and repair technology and expanding coverage of equipment and materials used in road management and construction. 

During his tenure at Construction Equipment, the magazine pioneered many industry firsts, including performance tests of heavy equipment, an illustrated guide to maintenance, an annual awards program for new products, and a census study of equipment and work in North America. Since 1988, the magazine won more than 50 awards for editorial excellence—more than all of the magazines in the field, combined. 

Before joining the construction industry, Landers edited special-interest consumer magazines in the automotive field, as well as a backpacking magazine. His consumer magazines featured testing programs, too—covering everything from cars and trucks to motorhomes and camping gear. In the mid-1970’s, Kirk worked as a staff writer for Time-Life Books’ Old West series. 

Landers is a graduate of Drake University (Des Moines, IA). He served in Vietnam in 1969-70 as a member of the U.S. Army earning a bronze star (service) and the Army commendation medal.

Jim Moriarty - With nearly 18 years in business-to-business publishing, Jim joined JIMI in 2000 as Managing Partner. Prior to joining the company, he was Regional Sales Manager for Hanley-Wood’s construction and masonry magazines, and served as Associate Publisher of The Concrete Producer magazine.

Jim began his publishing career with Cahners as a magazine telemarketer and was promoted to Midwest Regional Sales Manager of Construction Equipment in 1989 building the largest sales territory on the magazine.

A graduate of Loyola University Chicago, Jim holds a degree in History.
