February 2000   James Informational Media Inc. (JIMI) purchases Better Roads and GAS UTILITY and Pipeline Industries (now GAS UTILITY Manager) magazines from the William O. Dannhausen Company.

March 2000  BetterRoads.com and GasIndustries.com, our magazine’s web sites, are expanded and revised.

April 2000 JIMI publishes its first issues.

April 2000   Better Roads expands its editorial base to address the governmental/contractor project team.

April 2000    The process of adding contractor circulation to Better Roads magazine from 5000 contractors to a goal of 15,000 contractors by June 2002 begins.

April 2000 Editorial and graphics changes to both GAS UTILITY and Pipeline Industries and Better Roads are introduced.

April 2000   JIMI hires M&D Printing of Henry, IL as their new printer.

May 2000   Dr. James Haughey, formerly VP Research for Cahners Publishing, is hired as Director of Economics.

May 2000 Written by Dr. Haughey, the first economics newsletters from JIMI for the governmental highway and bridge markets, and the natural gas industries are published.

May 2000 James Informational Research, a subsidiary of James Informational Media Inc., is formed.   

June 2000 Better Roads contractor circulation is increased to 7000 copies.

June 2000   Jim Moriarty and Jack Ward, both formerly with Hanley-Wood’s concrete and masonry magazines, and Construction Equipment magazine, join JIMI as managing partners.

July 2000 JIMI offers employees, for the first time, a 401K program.

August 2000 BetterRoads.com averages 1600 impressions and 700 visits per week. GasIndustries.com reaches 1100 impressions and 400 visits per week.

November 2000 Seventy-five new advertisers (companies not advertising since January 1997) run ad space in Better Roads and GAS UTILITY and Pipeline Industries since January 2001.

November 2000 Better Roads introduces Better Bridges, a quarterly supplement. The first section is 21 pages, including nearly 8 pages of advertising.

December 2000 Better Roads named official magazine of the PNS Snow Conference.

January 2001 Kirk Landers, formerly Editor-in-Chief of Cahners’ Construction Equipment magazine, joins James Informational Media Inc. as Vice President and Editorial Director, and equity partner.

January 2001 The title of GAS UTILITY and Pipeline Industries magazine is changed to GAS UTILITY Manager.

February 2001 Hayley Coleman, formerly Design Editor of Construction Equipment, is named Art Director of JIMI publications.

February 2001 GAS UTILITY Manager magazine named by the Midwest Energy Association (MEA) official magazine of the Midwest Energy Conference.

March 2001 Better Roads magazine joins Construction Equipment, Diesel Progress, and the Associated Equipment Publications (ACP’s) are named as co-publishers of the 2002 Conexpo/Con-AGG Official Show Daily.

March 2001 GasIndustries.com reaches 1800 impressions and over 600 visits per week up from 1100 impressions and 400 visits per week in August 2000. BetterRoads.com reaches over 2800 impressions and 1100 visits per week up from 1600 impressions and 700 visits per week in August 2000.

April 2001   Better Roads has a contractor circulation of 12,000 reaching 70% of its stated goal of 15,000.

May 2001   Better Roads is redesigned to reflect the expanding interest of the governmental/contractor project team.

June 2004  James Informational Media acquires Aggregates Manager magazine from Mercor Media.
